Reflexology is the practice of applying pressure to the feet and hands utilizing specific thumb, finger and hand techniques without the use of oil, cream or lotion.  The treatment is based on a system of zones and reflex areas that reflect an image of the body on the feet and hands with a premise that such work affects a physical change in the body. Reflexology is a rewarding career, especially for those who would like flexible working hours on a self-employed basis. 

This course focuses on the knowledge and skills required to carry out professional reflexology therapy.

You will develop communication skills, organisation skills, the ability to work unsupervised, how to adapt techniques according to the situation, the ability to plan and promote services and advice on aftercare.

The knowledge you will gain will enable them you understand how the related body systems work, the effect reflexology treatments can have on each of these systems and the theory behind each technique performed.

The training includes:

The history, theories and principles of reflexology; Understanding the body in sickness and in health including cause of illness, diseases, reactions of medications, areas of assistance; How to treat specific disorders; Hand reflexology; How to carry out case studies

Aspects of consultation and how to work the feet in a professional manner; Nutrition, health and hygiene will also be covered. 

Much learning is through practical application, discussion, exploration with treatments performed on each other until safe correct techniques have been mastered.  You will then progress to working on clients and will be able to evaluate the effectiveness of your treatments and complete task work quickly during the course.

Entry requirements

You will first need to complete the supporting units, Principles and Practice of Complementary Therapies through an E-learning portal.

There is no specific educational prerequisite, however, it is a very time-consuming course and it is essential that you have the desire to excel and a professional mature attitude.  You will need to complete research and produce assignments so access to a laptop and printer is essential.

In order to enjoy professional status, either before or during the reflexology course, you will also need to complete the E-learning  Knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology for Complementary Therapies and either during or after the course complete the Business Practice for Complementary Therapies. In addition, you will have completed or have made arrangements to attend a first aid course.

Group 1 – Wednesday 14th September  – 7th December 2020

Group 2 – Sunday 20th September – 6th December 2020

Attendance is for 12 weeks (weekdays term time only, Sundays, breaks to be negotiated). Following this, you will have a further six months to complete the reflective practice case studies. Get it done days, telephone tutorials and email/group support is provided throughout this time.

It is recommended that 112 guided learning hours are allocated for this unit.

The cost of the training is £799 which can be may be made in 3 instalments. The initial booking cost is £275 which is made by card payment plus a further 2 payments of £262 which can be made by Paypal or bank transfer.

In addition to the training fee, you will need to provide the following:

Certification fees – currently £26

Flat sheet, small towels, foot cleansing solution and balm costing no more than £30. Details will be provided at registration.

If you are new to the industry, you will be required to purchase professional salon jacket & trousers from Labeeby Academy. £45.20, a name badge and will need to wear flat, closed in shoes

We recommend that you become a student member of the Association of Reflexologists. 

Unit 306 Provide Reflexology for Complementary Therapies

Written Exam
On week 12 you will sit a written  case studies which will test your knowledge around treatment practice.

Practical observations

You will be practically assessed on 3 occasions; twice by your educator and finally by an independent assessor.

Reflective practice treatments

Total number of treatments =100

Some can be in the classroom and on family/friends/peers. The treatments must include 15 different clients. 
2 client x 12 treatments = 24
4 clients x 8 treatments = 32
4 clients x 6 treatments = 24
5 clients x 4 treatments = 20
