Lully Lou’s Beauty

Before I started at Phoenix I had no children, was working in a pub with no real balance to my life, life was dull…..
At the start the paperwork overwhelmed me and I thought I had no way of completing this it was about to be another failure in life …
Working with Phoenix was very organised welcoming and like a family the owner louise was very approachable and that’s something I have not come across before.
I finally found myself and Louise made me realise no matter how many hurdles you face or how much you struggle with the normal reading writing and general understanding she would a way to make it work for me and it did…… the best result I got from Phoenix was finding my inner confidence and perfecting hands on treatments rather than thinking I could never achieve it -louise did that for me.

Hello, my name is Vicky Arrowsmith. I am a fully qualified City and Guilds Beauty and Holistic Therapist with over 10 years experience. I am a registered Member of Associated Beauty Therapists Ltd.
After working in Customer service roles in the City, I’d wanted a complete change of career for some time and had always been interested in Hair and Beauty. I enrolled with Phoenix School of Health and beauty started training on a Saturday school in 2002 Beauty Therapy Level 2 with Louise.
I left my job in the city and my first job after qualifying was part time as a therapist at Synergy Salon in Brentwood whilst further studying at Phoenix for Level 3 Body Massage, Aromatherapy and Indian head and post graduate courses. I wanted to gain experience and speed in a salon but always knew I wanted to eventually work for myself at home.
I qualified for my Level 3 and worked at First steps for a short period and then started some mobile work. I also set up a room from home and built up a good client base over a few years. I had a career break for a few years in 2011 whilst having my children. In Nov 2015 I restarted my business from home working school hours and evenings which fits perfectly with my family life. I absolutely love my job and working for myself gives me such flexibility. Louise has been there for me every step of the way and most recently supporting me for refresher and post graduate courses.

I loved every minute at Phoenix meeting like minded people and learning new treatments. My aim is to escape factory work and become a full time therapist.

I began my training at phoenix in 2006 , at the time I was working full time as a secondary science teacher and Head of year. I started doing my L2 City and Guilds Beauty Therapy qualification as a bit of a hobby. I soon realised I had a real passion for the industry and thoroughly enjoyed working as a therapist at home. I then had my two boys and dropped down the number of days I was teaching in school and picked up my beauty at home more. I then returned to Phoenix to under take City and Guilds L3 qualifications in Reflexology, Massage and Indian Head Massage as well as diplomas in Hopi ear candles, Crystal Healing, Spray Tanning and eyelash extensions. As much as I loved being at home I missed the company and the sense of being part of a team so I became employed as a salon manager in Dunmow. I am now also on the education team at phoenix and am currently teaching Aroma massage. I now have the best of everything, working from home, Teaching and working in salon. Making the change over to beauty is by far one of the best things I have done. Its a career I thoroughly enjoy, am passionate about and works well around my family. The enthusiasm, support and encouragement from all of the staff at phoenix have defiantly made that transition easier and has been partly responsible for my continued drive to learn new things and explore new avenues and treatments within the industry.
