Massage is a universal instinct. From the earliest times, we have known that it helps to rub a sore limb and that to touch is beneficial. Massage can be traced back through history within every culture, in particular Chinese, Indian, Greek, Persian, Roman as well as Western Europe.
Although massage techniques are based on a mixture of many traditions and techniques, the starting point is to understand the workings of the human body, the mechanics of posture and muscle tone which will enable you to create a treatment which will specifically benefit your client.
This course has been designed for anyone wishing to begin his or her career as a massage or body holistic therapist and is a pre-requisite for aroma massage, sports massage, stone and lava shell therapy.

Not just a course but business set-up and practice. The initial training will teach you the knowledge & skills to professionally carry out full body massage with the adaptations of incorporating blended essential oils, hot stones and relaxation massage for pregnancy. Once the initial training is complete and the qualifications gained, you will have the opportunity to access the next stage of the business building process with a business coach and mentor and the help of the ‘First Steps’ next step program set up a home-based or mobile beauty business and build a business.
City & Guilds level 3 Award in massage techniques is recognised by any insurance company for professional practice. This course is designed for everyone, even without previous knowledge. There is no specific prerequisite, however, it’s essential that you desire to excel and a professional mature attitude. You will need to complete research and practice your skills each week as well as complete the online anatomy & physiology activities.
Much learning is through practical application, discussion, exploration with treatments performed on each other until safe correct techniques have been mastered. You will then progress to working on clients and will be able to evaluate the effectiveness of your treatments and complete task work quickly during the course.

You will learn how to conduct body analysis; prepare the working environment; carry out treatments to cover relaxation; aid weight-loss; stimulation and lymphatic drainage and use Infra-red and G5 pre-warming treatments. The massage techniques taught will include Effleurage, petrissage, tapotement, frictions, vibration and neuromuscular. Adaptations will be taught so that you can provide treatments which are relaxation, improved blood and lymph circulation, stimulating/sedating nerves, improves skin texture, improves muscle tone, aids digestion and improves underlying structures.

The cost of the training is £648 which includes exam and certification fees.
In addition to the training fee, you will need to provide the following:
2 flat sheet, 2 pillowcases, 4 small towels, 4 flannels, a range of massage oils, costing no more than approximately £30. Details will be provided at registration.

If you are new to the industry, you will be required to purchase a professional salon jacket & trousers from Labeeby Academy. £45.20, a name badge and will need to wear flat, closed in shoes.
The practical will be assessed when carrying out treatments on clients throughout the course which will be part of the reflective practices required to achieve the qualification. The theory is completed through an online test which is scheduled to meet your needs
Once your booking has been made, we will provide you with an online induction programme which will provide you with further information about what is required for enrolment.
You will have 14 days in which to access the documents and make an appointment to come to the centre to complete the registration process. If you change your mind or your circumstances change within this 14 day time slot, you are free to cancel your place and will receive a full refund of any payment made.
